Silviculture Services

I provide strategic silviculture and operational planning advice, drawing on more than five years managing Ontario’s largest silviculture program.

My role is to help boards, licensees, and landowners plan and oversee large-scale programs with confidence—advising on budgets, prescriptions, and governance frameworks so your own teams and contractors can execute effectively.

Key advisory capabilities and results include:

  • Major program oversight – Guided $7 M in trust-funded silviculture and $1 M in annual administrative revenue, while securing $5 M in external grant funding and managing complex multi-program cost structures.

  • Contract & supplier strategy – Negotiated multi-million-dollar service contracts and expanded supplier capacity by 30 % to support growing operational demands.

  • Tree planting planning at scale – Directed programs planting ~10 million trees each year, including stock procurement planning and budgeting.

  • Mechanical site preparation & aerial seeding guidance – Planned and advised on ~5,000 ha of mechanical site prep and ~1,500 ha of aerial seeding annually, including seed acquisition strategies (cone collection).

  • Aerial surveying & prescription development – Provided strategic direction and implementation for 150,000+ ha of aerial surveys, including;

    • Silviculture prescription development

    • Treatment delineation and efficacy assessment for aerial spray programs

    • Free-to-grow and regeneration surveys

  • Vegetation management strategy – Led planning for 7,000–10,000 ha per year, including Ontario’s largest aerial herbicide program.

I focus on high-level advisory and decision support: preparing board-ready documentation, strengthening governance and compliance, and ensuring that your in-house or contracted teams have clear, science-based direction for successful execution.
